Take the role of a Survivor, each with unique abilities, and harness both their individual skills and the power of teamwork against the hordes of unthinking undead! Zombies are predictable and stupid but deadly, controlled by simple rules and a deck of cards. Unfortunately for you, there are a LOT more zombies than you have bullets...

Find weapons, kill zombies. The more zombies you kill, the more skilled you get. The more skilled you get, however, the more zombies appear. The only way out is Zombicide!

Play rich missions on different maps made from modular game tiles, or create your own adventures!

Kinda "Meh" I'm afraid... Review by Chris D
There's a lot of hype online about zombicide, so when the wife wanted it, having had a friend put up photos of it being played, I was pretty excited. I'd finally be able to do some zombie hunting with the missus and kids!

So let's start with the good... Components are great. Heavy double sided boards, lots of well molded minis, the cards are small but good quality cardstock. It looks great, just like a post apocalyptic city block.

Then we get to the rules... They're clunky. Shooting is clunky. Hand to hand is clunky. It just feels like "I thought YOU were doing the rules?!" "Me? Weren't YOU doing them?" "Oh bugger, quick, let's just get something down to get it out".

You can't run a long term campaign. The scenarios in the book don't scale nicely in difficulty from beginner to expert. Character advancement feels hacked and pointless, as the difficulty ramps up at the same or faster rate, and you can't carry over skills from round to round. I just really don't like them.

In defence, the major problems are houseruled easily, but a decent game shouldn't need house ruling.

All that said, my family loves it, and I play so I can have zombie gaming with them. Every game I'm really glad when it's over though. Lots of other folk love the game. I have a mini game for zombie gaming, and maybe I was expecting the same depth from Zombicide. I don't know, but for me it just doesn't deliver beyond "it looks great". (Posted on 28/05/2015)
