The Games Capital recommends this because: Bananagrams is fast and frantic and a heap of fun. If you like word games but don't like waiting for your turn in Scrabble then this is the game for you.
There are also other variants listed in the rules if you like to mix it up.
Bananagrams is a game for all the Scrabble lovers out there that don't always have time for a full game. It's basically Speed Scrabble without the need for a board.
The game consists of 144 letter tiles. The tiles are placed face down in the centre of the table and each player takes 21 tiles. When everybody is ready one player will call a start to the game and each player then plays simultaneously trying to arrange their tiles into words. These words can be arranged crossword like, so that some letters can be used in more than one word.
As soon as one player has used all his tiles, he lets the other players know and all players must then take an additional tile to add to their collection. Now you may have to rearrange you words in order to incorporate the new tile.
Play continues until there are fewer tiles in the centre of the table than there are players, then the first player to use all of his tiles is the winner.
Bananagrams is for 2 to 8 players ages 7 and up and plays in about 15 minutes.
